This particular photo was shot at the bottom of a canyon in the midst of winter. I was studying methods to shoot a river this week and what was the best way to shoot it and capture a story. The research showed that you had to interact with your surroundings of the river to really capture a feel for the photo. So as i was laying across this piece of ice i noticed the closer i got to the water the more oxygen was released from the ice creating a swirl effect and pushing air bubbles through the bottom of the ice. Then i set my camera to a faster shutter speed to capture the still stream.
